A Few Things

Thing 1: I’d really like to get myself a set of Tarot cards. So far I’m drawn to the Dreaming Way deck above all others. I’ve also thought about designing my own deck and doing my own hand-drawn, hand-painted designs. I think that would make the deck even more energized than just buying it off the shelf. But it would also require more time and energy than just giving Amazon $14. We’ll see. It’s in my wishlist.

Thing 2: I’d like to get back into meditating more often again. While reading about Tarot vs. Oracle decks/cards, I found my way to alpha state meditation. What is alpha state of mind? Great question. According to this little article, it is:

The electromagnetic pulse of planet Earth is known as the Schumann Resonance. Although there are fluctuations, this planetary heartbeat maintains an overall measurement of 7.8 Hz. When we relax and slow our brain waves in meditation down to the alpha level – between 14 and 7 cycles per second – and in particular 7.8 cps, we are meshing with the Earth’s deep rhythm and we enter our psychic realms.

So of course I went on Youtube and found some guided meditation videos to help me try it out. And I will be doing so tonight.

Thing 3: Today I was playing around with my crystal quartz pyramid. I stuck it on my forehead (it always makes me feel a lot better about anything and everything when I do that) for a little bit, and then decided to put it on top of my head. After maybe 30 seconds, I tipped my head backwards a little bit and it fell off and shattered in the corner. I’m really rather upset about this for several reasons.

I don’t feel like it’s going to work like it should anymore now that it’s broken and missing a chunk.
I FEEL BROKEN AND LIKE I’M MISSING A CHUNK NOW THAT I’VE HELPED IT ON IT’S WAY TO BEING BROKEN AND MISSING A CHUNK.
Sigh, I definitely feel the need to buy a new one now and they’re not cheap, which leads me into…

Thing 4: I recently got bumped up to low end full time hours, among other kinda yay things at job 1. This means more $ which will be nice. However, I’m desperately trying to save my money for many reasons including:

– Amanda’s wedding and related activities requiring $$$
– Really want to get Chromecast which is not expensive, but would like not to cut deeper into my pockets at the moment
– Desperately need to get my hair cut and colored
– Bills bills bills!!!
– Would love to travel soon (not far, maybe like Chicago or somewhere up north) for a weekend, always need $$$ for that
– Spontaneous events, such as salsa dancing (might/will make a post about that soon)
– General accumulation of “wealth”

No matter how much I’d love to get away from our current system of monetaryness (???) the world is still heavily and prominently dependent on money and therefore I still need it. Sigh.

At least I’m not moping about my nonexistent love life anymore. (It’s still nonexistent.)

Starting Mini VK with Biffle Time

HURRRRMMMERGURD.

I just spent today and yesterday with my biffle Alyza on our much anticipated and planned 2 day biffle date. I hadn’t seen her in a long time so I was QUITE excited to spend time with her. Plus her bday’s coming up in a few days and I had a giant bag of xmas/bday presents to give her, so like, extra excited. I love giving gifts.

Anyway, yesterday we shopped even though the roads were shitty and several stores at my local mall were closed. Then we came home and did stupid stuff like put fake eyelashes on and make a PodBot video cause we haven’t made one since MARCH this past year – wtf!?

Today we tried to take my laptop apart and failed. We ordered chinese food and then we spent the rest of the day making paintings for each other. It was relaxing and fun and it’s times like these that I wish we lived closer. I mean obviously we still live close – we’re not states apart like my other 2 best friends are. But it takes some determination and about a quarter tank of gas. But it’s worth it.

It’s been a good start to my mini week-long vacation.

The Phenomenal Handclap Band is Kind Of a Big Deal

Among the various thousands of thoughts that have passed through my brain waves today, the most recent that stood out enough to share with you all was this (and I’m not sure if I’ve shared this before, but I think I have):

I still firmly believe people are attracted to people who look like themselves. I’m not saying this is universal, but I often find that I run into couples who look rather similar in their facial features, posture, even height sometimes.

I remember watching something on PBS, might’ve been NOVA, about this subject. It stuck with me and made me notice it more.

Anyway, so this weekend while I was shopping at Forever 21, they played this song that I SoundHounded cause I really liked it and wanted to add it to my Spotify playlist. Unfortunately, Spotify doesn’t have this song, but they do have other albums by The Phenomenal Handclap Band and I’m discovering that I really like their music. It’s easy and breezy and kind of reminds me of Benny Hill.

You’re welcome.

Additionally, I’m quite proud of myself for finally getting off my ass and going up to the school to finish making skirts for my friend. I couldn’t do them the past two weeks due to being sick, but I started them yesterday and finished them today. I also paid HNI a visit and was very happy to see him again, it had been too long.

And now it’s time to repaint my nails so I look presentable at work.

I Cleaned My Desk, Yay!

First I watched this very amusing video of Ron Swanson eating a banana:

Then it led me to TWERKSANITY lmfao.

Also, I finally got around to cleaning and organizing all the paperwork I had piled up for ~4 years in the top portion of my desk. Once I get rid of the books in there, it’s gonna be even more roomy. Pretttttty excited I accomplished this today!

I’m taking baby steps toward cleaning my room overall. Next time I have a significant amount of time, I will be cleaning the two cubby shelves of the desk where I have stashed various random things including, from what I can currently see, Anthropologie candles, a devious book my friends gave me for Christmas one year, and plushies.

YOU KNOW WHAT THOUGH, I just got a BRILLIANT IDEA. I should paint my desk. YES. Maybe I will when it gets warmer out and stops raining. Excellent. Bed time.

Halestorm & Jon Hamm’s Penis

For the past week or so, since I’ve been delving deeper into the cavern that is Spotify, I’ve been fixating on Halestorm and mentally enveloping myself in their music. Like holy shit, I can’t get enough. I think they’ve officially earned a spot among my favorite bands, because, damn.

Haley’s voice is just intoxicating. It just feels perfect, synesthetically. I can’t explain it correctly. Sometimes it’s golden, sometimes it garnet red. It gurgles the right way in my throat and has the right texture on my tongue, which sounds disturbing, but synesthesia gives no fucks.

I keep listening to their cover of Skid Row’s Slave to the Grind. It’s SO GOOD.

Seriously guys, if you haven’t listened to Halestorm before, I highly recommend them. They actually won the Grammy this year for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance for their song Love Bites (So Do I). They’re the first female-fronted band to be nominated and win in this category!

P.S. I’m still amused that all the search words leading people to my blog are still in reference to Jon Hamm’s penis. Thank you, Jon Hamm’s penis.

About That Time I Was Shopping 3 Feet Away from Steve Kardynal

Things I’m glad I did today:

1. Go shopping with my mom to my place of work despite not wanting to see the place on my day off.

WHY YOU ASK!?

I’ll fucking tell you why.

I TOTALLY ENCOUNTERED YOUTUBE SENSATION STEVE KARDYNAL WHILE I WAS SHOPPING FOR SHIRTS FOR MY BROTHER AND I IMMEDIATELY BECAME STARSTRUCK, BLUSHED PROFUSELY, AND AVERTED EYE CONTACT POST INITIAL EYE CONTACT BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I ENCOUNTER FAMOUS PEOPLE.

If you don’t know who Steve Kardynal is, let me give you the lowdown:

He’s a YouTube artist from the Metro Detroit Area who is most famous for this “Songs in Real Life” video series and the fake girl in bikini ChatRoulette videos. He’s a genuinely funny guy with fabulous facial hair. And I highly recommend you go subscribe to his channel asap. You won’t regret it, I promise.

Anyway, I was tra la la la shopping and I looked up for some reason and THERE HE WAS. And then I looked down but then I involuntarily looked up really quickly – quickly enough that it was obvious for him, his friend, and my mom to all realize that a normal person doesn’t snap their head back that quickly. I’m pretty positive he realized I knew who he was. And then I felt kinda bad cause I was like shit, he’s gonna think I’m about to ambush him for an autograph or be like OMFG YOU’RE STEVE KARDYNAL!!!

I didn’t say anything to him the entire time we were there and he was within touching/talking/seeing distance because no matter how much bragging rights I could have to a picture or an autograph or some shit, I first and foremost became too starstruck to say anything. But secondly, I decided it was nicer of me to pretend like I didn’t know who he was and bother him while he was trying to shop like a normal human being.

There was a point probably 10 or 15 minutes after the initial encounter that I was looking at size small t-shirts and I saw him out of the corner of my eye heading directly towards me and I was like OMG HE’S GOING TO SAY SOMETHING. And I looked up and he looked at me, but then he went down the aisle next to me.

#shylife

And that’s the most exciting thing to have happened to me since I acquired a certain phone number last week.

I also, however, found a 4-5 month old adoptable kitty at Petco named Tinkerbell who I have absolutely fallen in love with. I held her for a good 10 minutes and she was completely 100% calm and relaxed my arms. When the volunteer chick wanted to put her back, she didn’t want to leave my arms. I was like OMFG STAHP.

Broke my heart to give her back. She’s adorable and fluffy and SO FULL OF LOVE and I WANT HER.

Omg, I’m A College Graduate, What?

How I feel emotionally right now:

To add injury to insult, it feels like my wounds have been licked by a salted cat’s tongue. But I’ll get through it. Because I’m accustomed to picking up the pieces and  powering on. I’m surprised I’m taking this as well as I am though. I guess I realize that it’s really not my loss and I’m better off. Back to square one it is.

But the highlight of today outshines this laceration in every way.

Anyway. So I’m like officially done with college now. It’s kind of blowing my mind. I got really drunk last night at bowling and the bar after. And then, of course, I left evidence in written form on the internet because that’s what drunk me loves to do. But I had a lot of fun and I was happy more than like five people showed up to the event.

I’m kind of confused as to what to do with my life, though. I mean, not like obscenely confused, but I just finished over a decade straight of school and now I’m expected to enter “the real world” or something? I know what I’m going to be doing first: cleaning. And making lists of things I need to get done, like starting to make things to sell. And more photography. And many more Vivography posts. And catching up on tv and movies. And refining my Adobe skills.

Good lord, I have life to catch up on. I will start by watching the last two Once Upon A Time episodes I missed.
