Happy Halloween 2013!

I should’ve turned off my computer half an hour ago, but I got distracted. I really need to be going to bed since I’ll be waking up BEFORE the crack of ass (dawn) for job #2, but I also remembered I have to write here. It’s the last day of Blogtober! Happy Halloween, hope you all had and/or are having more fun than I did.

I went to Nordstrom Rack today to find a dress for Amanda’s engagement party. I found one, and 2 others. Spent over $100, applied for their debit card and will be getting back $20 to spend again. I found 3 dresses and the one I want to wear to the engagement party is actually one size too small. So after purchasing it, I decided to hit up Meijer to restock my fridge with healthy foods (veggies) and then I did Jillian Michaels yoga. I am determined to fit into this dress. Even if I have to wear shapewear to make it zip after losing weight. It’s such a gorgeous dress though. It’s baby blue and white white brocade, box pleated skirt, 50s drop shoulder top. It’s by Topshop. It’s very high quality and it was only $54.97. Yet trust me, i still feel guilty spending the money when I should be saving for loan payments (which feel like literally taking my money by the handful and flushing it down the toilet willingly) and hopefully a new car.

I need a new job.

A high paying new job.

Oh, and Amanda asked my brother to stand up in the wedding so we’ll both be in the wedding party now. 11 bridesmaids, 11 groomsmen. It’s gonna be a massive wedding.

I Love Organization

I have finally completed another phase in my room cleaning expedition: my closet. The one with hangers, not the bookcase, that’ll be another day.

I organized everything by season, color, style, and pairing coordination as well as cleaned out the bottom of my closet and moved all my shoes down there, along with my purses – although I need to cushion that section with something. Even though I vacuumed and cleaned the bottom of my closet, I feel weird just placing my purse down there nakedly without anything holding them or cushioning them. I might have to go to Target or something for a big plastic container or a cork board roll.

I did end up going to Ikea today for organizers, however. I considered buying some kind of wooden mini bookcases to stick on the shelf in my closet, but decided that it would just add weight to the shelf, especially with clothes thrown in there. So I opted with the Drona series fabric boxes ($4.99 each) and tilted them on their sides to created more storage and utilize the height space I have on the shelf.

I’m very pleased with the outcome, although I think I might also buy another two boxes or so for the other side of the shelf where I currently have a few purses and some books, again to ulitize the height space.

I can’t even begin to describe how happy this organization has made me. It’s like everything just fits in perfect order and all I want to do is keep my closet doors open and stare at my work all day.

Oh! I also bought a new clock – again – thinking that because it doesn’t have a second hand, it won’t tick. I was wrong. I spent $15 on this clock, guys. Had I known it was going to tick, I’d have just left my $6 clock from Target on my wall. But, since Ikea is ~32 miles away, I’m not going to go get my money back. So I moved the Target clock to the bathroom and took down the ghetto bird clock we’ve had in there since the dawn of time.

Still on my list of things to do:
– Clean the side cubbies of my desk
– Clean both Ikea bookcases
– Look through my bookshelf and eliminate books I don’t want anymore
– Look through the 2 foot high stack of magazines I’ve accumulated for the past year
– Wash my carpets
– Paint the doorway and lining of my room. Maybe my closet too.
– Paint the stairwell
– GET TAN

DTRO & Curly Hair

Today started out kinda shitty. It was threatening to rain, and then it did. And I was sitting and moping around my house trying to figure out what to do with my life or where to go.

I decided the gym is always a good option, even though I didn’t really wanna go. But I went. Had a light workout because I’m a little bitch and made plans with one of my friends, Kristen, to go to downtown Royal Oak after.

From then on, it turned out to be a fanfuckingtastic day!!

We stopped at this tea place and got bubble tea and then had dunchen at Little Tree Sushi Bar and it was DE-lish. Although the plum sushi I got was awful and I couldn’t decide if the plum part was really salty or really sour. I thought it was just really salty until Kristen tasted it and thought it was really sour. My cucumber salad was superb though.

We also went shopping around at Paris and Lost and Found Vintage, among other stores. I bought this sterling silver and citrine ring I’d been thinking about since the last time I was there at Paris, and Kristen found this cute dress she ended up buying there that fit her very well and did all kinds of wonderful things for her boobs.

Lastly, tonight is the first night of the year that I’ve allowed my hair to air dry and IT DECIDED TO DO THIS:

It hasn’t been this curly IN A REALLY LONG ASS TIME. Like, YEARS. Now the trick is to preserve these curls overnight so I don’t look completely bad when I wake up tomorrow and have to do too much with it.

It Took Me 3 Hours to Make This Skirt

I think today was pretty productive.

I hit up Downtown Royal Oak and bought 2 vintage rings from Lost and Found Vintage for $8, one of which is sterling silver. The one in the picture below is Emmons costume jewelry. I’m still trying to figure out if the stone is real aquamarine, CZ, or deceivingly sharp cut glass. I cleaned it up and it looks BEAUTIFUL.

I also went to Barnes and Noble to get away from distractions and finish my Industrial Post article – which I did! It’s been sent off for review. Couldn’t leave without perusing the place though, and I ended up buying 2 books: Crossed by Ally Condie (haven’t read the first one yet, it’s in my pile) and Speechless by Hannah Harrington.

Came home and after wasting some time online telling myself I should get off and do something productive, I decided I wanted to make pillowcases for our couch pillows. The fabric I was going to use was useless though, as it had these huge stickers that left residue I couldn’t get off. So I chose a fabric from my archives, and I was testing it out in the living room against the couches when my mom walked by and said NO.

Soooo, I decided I would attempt to finally make a gathered skirt for myself, like I had originally intended to do when I bought the fabric. 3 hours later, I wound up with a wearable skirt with INSET POCKETS, WUT.

It looks cute, I know. It’s actually skanky in disguise. Can’t bend over or wear it on a day when there is any wind unless you’re wearing tights and/or booty shorts underneath, true story. I also feel like it makes me look like a baby whale cause there’s so many gathers, but oh well.

Stuffs

The graduate life continues to be interesting.

I spent yesterday with Alyza and Angela at the studio and we helped Ang make limited edition Tigers leggings for opening day in Detroit tomorrow, as well as some cushions.

When we came home, we went HAM on an enchilada bake and avocado and I swear, in the moment, we were nursing the most delicious of food babies…

Today we hit up Great Lakes Crossing and spent about 6 hours shopping. It was fun because shopping is always fun and because the amount of animal print shirts we found were ample and fantastic. Forever 21 had the most options in that department.

We had Panda Express for dunchen and I feel like I¬†committed¬†dietary sin and I’m going to hate the ever living shit out of myself at my Sunday weigh in, which means I need to make it up in clean eating and exercising (duh). Seriously. I feel like I’ve been really bad these past 2 months and I need to stop fucking around.

Goals can’t be reached by not working hard for them. Damnit. I’m about to bootcamp my ass into shape because I didn’t work this hard to get to where I am so I could gain it back. I refuse to allow myself to gain weight that isn’t muscle mass.

I Love Anthro

Today has been a beautiful day.

Not just weather wise, which was gorgeous aesthetically, but VERY COLD. I had lunch with my former mini boss from the library and we went to Anthropologie in Birmingham which was nice.

Then I came home and showered and headed out shopping with my mom and then we went to Anthropologie at Somerset (ha!) and I bought a GORGEOUS red silk goal dress that doesn’t fit me yet with the gift card mini boss gave me.

It looks 1000x better on me than on the hanger.

It looks 1000x better on me than on the hanger.

And also, underwear for my brother from American Eagle which I promptly cut all the tags off of and secretly put them in his underwear drawer. I also threw away all his old undies that were far too worn for anyone to continue wearing with dignity. I’m pretty sure he’s going to be pissed when he notices, but honestly, WHAT OTHER SISTER CARES THIS MUCH ABOUT THE WELL-BEING OF HER BROTHER’S TOOSHIE? Only me.

My mom and I also had dinner at California Pizza Kitchen and it was very delicious. We got the pear and gorgonzola thin crust pizza and I know it might sound weird, BUT IT WAS SO GOOD. I want to eat like 5000 of these pizzas.

The accompanying salad went perfectly together with the pizza. AND IT HAD BLEU CHEESE. YUM.
